IEW - Idea of GBA Conceptualised

Brazil, India, and the United States, prominent figures in the biofuel production and consumption sector, unite to collaborate in the ensuing months to create the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA). Pivotal focus during India's tenure as G20 Presidency was the inception of GBA, officially announced by Shri Hardeep S Puri, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, during India Energy Week 2023.

ETMM Special Ministerial Consultations and Recommendations on Global Biofuels Alliance

The event witnesses robust support attended by representatives from fifteen countries and nine international organizations. The forum concludes with a collective acknowledgment of the GBA's potential to facilitate a sustainable energy future, leading to a formal recommendation for its establishment to the G20 leaders.

New Delhi Leader’s Summit: Launch of the Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA)

The Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) is launched on September 9, 2023, by Honorable PM Narendra Modi during the G20 Summit in New Delhi in the presence of senior leaders from Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, Italy, Mauritius, Singapore, the UAE, and the USA, with the support of 19 countries and 12 international organizations.

TEC established

The Temporary Executive Committee is established with representation from all GBA country members and the first inaugural virtual Temporary Executive Committee meeting is convened under the chairmanship of Mr. Pankaj Jain, Interim Director General of GBA and Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India.

ETWG 2 GBA’s first in person TEC meeting

GBA’s first in-person TEC meeting held on the sidelines of the 2nd ETWG meeting under Brazil's G20 presidency has representation from 12 countries and 9 international organizations.

G7 Sustainable Biofuels Forum

GBA participated in "International Forum on Sustainable Biofuels" organised by Italy, the G7 presidency in Turin, and signed the Turin Joint Statement on Sustainable Biofuels.

GBA at ETWG3 Brazil

GBA and the G20 presidency host the “G20 GBA SAF, Future Fuels and Future Chemicals Forum” event. Discussions touch upon enhancing the adoption and scalability of SAF through collaboration, innovation, and policy incentives, to facilitate international biofuels deployment
