Global Biofuels Alliance Showcases Commitment and Industry Collaboration at COP28 Dubai, UAE, December 3, 2023

The Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) marked its presence at the COP28, in Expo City, Dubai. The GBA Pavilion became a point for industry leaders and stakeholders to explore the evolving landscape of biofuels globally. GBA also hosted an Industry Roundtable, titled "Industry Perspectives on Expectations from the Global Biofuels Alliance” which was attended by 24 industry leaders from 11 countries. It was centered on three main themes: enhancing GBA's support for industry in accelerating biofuels adoption, potential initiatives for scaling up biofuel adoption, and global best practices for ramping up biofuels development and deployment.

Outcomes from the roundtable included a call for robust policy interventions to shape the biofuels landscape globally. There was a strong consensus on the critical role of investments and technological development in scaling biofuels. Industry representatives pointed out the existing technologies and the need for GBA to play a crucial role in building technology capabilities. Looking ahead, the GBA’s participation at COP28 and the insights gained from the Industry Roundtable are set to significantly influence its strategies and initiatives. The alliance is committed to fostering a collaborative environment where biofuels can thrive as a key component of the global energy matrix, supporting sustainable and inclusive growth worldwide.
