Global Biofuels Alliance in “International Forum on Sustainable Biofuels”
The Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) is gaining significant prominence on the international stage, as evidenced by its active participation in the "International Forum on Sustainable Biofuels" held in Turin under Italy’s G7 presidency. Representing GBA at this prestigious event was Ms. Esha Srivastava, nodal point for GBA, India and Joint Secretary (IC) from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, India. She highlighted the pivotal role of biofuels and noted that biofuels could make up 13% of the transportation energy mix by 2050, according to IRENA's projections. However, current global investments in biofuels fall short of what is necessary to reach these goals.
The forum brought together key stakeholders from around the world to discuss the future of sustainable biofuels. Efforts of the GBA and the crucial role is plays in advancing biofuels globally were recognized and appreciated by ministers from Brazil, Italy, and Kenya. The Italian G7 and Brazilian G20 presidencies jointly signed the Turin Joint Statement on Sustainable Biofuels which highlights the role of sustainable biofuels in decarbonizing all transport sectors, promoting environmental sustainability, innovation, and creating value for companies The event marked a significant milestone for GBA, reinforcing its position as a leading advocate for sustainable biofuels on the global stage.
